The Opportunity

Fortitude Family Office is looking for an experienced wealth & tax advisor to join our team. This role will be responsible for taking ownership of all aspects of the client engagement; interacting with clients, delegating and reviewing work, and completing follow-up items. You will engage with families on all Fortitude’s services – Investment Management, Wealth Planning & Coordination, Tax Planning & Compliance, and Personal CFO Support.

The Expectations

  • Assess client’s overall financial picture, understand their needs, and develop a solid financial plan
  • Help gather financial information and prepare net worth, cash flow, investment planning, investment policy statements, and other tools for wealth planning engagements
  • Prepare and review long-term capital sufficiency analyses based on personal financial goals, current financial data, tax rates, inflation rates, and investment assumptions
  • Prepare, review, and complete individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns

The Qualifications

  • 5+ years of prior experience with taxes, investments, or as an accountant, financial planner, or tax preparer
  • In-depth knowledge of tax or investments
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex information clearly and simply
  • Must be a self-starting individual who takes responsibility for his/her work and actively sees projects through to successful conclusions while maintaining a high level of communication with team members
  • Desire/ability to work successfully in a small company team environment where it is expected that you will wear many hats with varied responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to operate CRM and other systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • CFA, CPA, or CFP required

The Opportunity

Fortitude Family Office is looking for an operations associate to join our team.  As an integral part of our organization, you will have the opportunity to work closely with advisors, gaining exposure to the strategic and operational aspects of our business. This role is designed for a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and is eager to contribute to the success of our company.

The Expectations

  • Open new client accounts at Charles Schwab, and serve as a liaison with the custodian and our team
  • Facilitate client wire requests, deposits, and journals between custodial accounts, as well as other cash movements requested by clients
  • Provide basic accounting and bookkeeping support to clients
  • Input new client and financial data, verify information, reconcile accounts, and conduct audits as instructed.
  • Process other account service requests initiated by advisors and/or clients

The Qualifications

  • Operational experience at a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) or in another wealth management environment is a plus
  • Must be a self-starting individual who takes responsibility for his/her work and actively sees projects through to successful conclusions while maintaining a high level of communication with team members
  • Desire/ability to work successfully in a small company team environment where it is expected that you will wear many hats with varied responsibilities

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dynamic tax manager and leader to join our team, someone who is not only proficient in managing tax operations but also passionate about mentoring and guiding others. This critical role involves overseeing the planning, scheduling, preparation, research, and review of federal, state, and local tax returns for both individuals and businesses.

The Expectations

  • Guide and manage team members to ensure timely and precise completion of assigned tasks.
  • Maintain proactive and clear communication with both your team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables effectively.
  • Advanced technical proficiency in taxation, overseeing the preparation of complex tax returns including individuals, C-Corps, S-Corps, partnerships, trusts, and estates across various industries.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, expertly resolve and communicate tax-related questions and issues.
  • Review associates’ work, offering constructive feedback, guidance, and training to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct in-depth tax research on complex issues and handle correspondence and audits from the IRS and other governmental agencies.
  • Provide valuable guidance and mentorship to staff, assisting them in developing their technical skills. Train new employees on firm technologies, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintain a program for ongoing tax updates and education for the tax group. Innovate and present ideas for process improvements to achieve firm and departmental goals.

The Qualifications

  • 8+ years of prior experience with US income tax preparation and planning,
  • In-depth knowledge of US tax laws and regulations
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to articulate complex information in writing and verbally.
  • Must be a self-starting individual who takes responsibility for his/her work and actively sees projects through to successful conclusions while maintaining a high level of communication with team members
  • Desire/ability to work successfully in a small company team environment where it is expected that you will wear many hats with varied responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to operate CRM (Salesforce) and other systems, such as tax preparation software
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in accounting, finance, or related field
  • US CPA or equivalent required

The Opportunity

Fortitude Family Office is looking for a wealth management or accounting intern to join our team.  This role will provide exposure to how our family office provides client service in investments, tax, wealth management, and accounting. Responsibilities involve all aspects of the firm, including tax planning and compliance, assisting with client service, meeting preparation, software/data projects, and administrative tasks. 

The Expectations

  • Assist with tax planning and preparation
  • Assist on special projects (internal and client-specific)
  • Attend client meetings in a support role
  • Provide basic accounting and bookkeeping support to clients
  • Assist with estimated tax calculations, tax filings, accounts receivables, accounts payables, and payroll processing
  • Participate in cash flow planning/estate planning/cash management/balance sheet planning
  • Support the client services and administrative teams as needed/requested
  • Prepare financial reports, primarily using Excel and other tools
  • Based on business needs, this role is to be performed on-site. This is not a remote or hybrid work-from-home role
